This legendary Beretta M92 is one of only two hero firearms rented by Stembridge Gun Rentals to the production of Die Hard (1988), starring Bruce Willis as the unforgettable John McClane. Screen-used throughout the film’s months-long shoot, this iconic weapon was present during the making of one of the most influential action movies ever filmed.

Originally part of the Stembridge arsenal—Hollywood’s most respected prop and firearm rental house—this Beretta was later acquired by Independent Studio Services (ISS) after Stembridge’s closure. It was subsequently purchased through Prop Store, which brokered and certified the firearm as authentic and production-used.

A True Hero Prop

Converted professionally for blank firing, this Beretta maintains its full mechanical authenticity and should be treated with the respect due a real firearm. The internal barrel contains a welded plug to ensure safe cycling on set while preventing live fire capability.

In the early 2000s, this same gun was used again in Equilibrium (2002) starring Christian Bale, where it was modified for futuristic sci-fi aesthetics. Later, a meticulous restoration process by Hollywood gunsmith Steve Karnes returned it to its original Die Hard configuration, using authentic Beretta parts from the same production run and matching the exact model and tolerances of the screen-used pistol.
